APPLICATION OF A POLYNOMIAL YIELD FUNCTION TO THE PREDICTION OF LIMIT STRAINS
Stefan Soare, Dorel Banabic
Abstract
A recently proposed sixth order polynomial yield function, [1], is applied in conjunction with the Marciniak and Kuczynski (M-K) model, [2-3], to the prediction of forming limit strains. We review the equations of the M-K model and for the particular case of plane strain loading integrate them in explicit form. We thus show that the plane strain limit strain predicted with the M-K model depends only on three parameters: the initial imperfection, the plane strain yield stress ratio and the hardening law. These results lead to the conclusion that anisotropic hardening of the yield surface must be taken into account in order to improve the predictions of the M-K model.
